Michael Rutland OBE
Vice-President of the Bhutan Society of the United Kingdom
Michael Rutland studied Physics and Mathematics at London University before moving to Bhutan, where he assisted in setting up the Ugyen Wangchuck Academy. He also taught the future Fourth King of Bhutan and worked as a consultant for the United Nations Agency.
He has now made over 160 educational television programmes in Bhutan and is the founder of the Bhutan Society of the United Kingdom. He was awarded an OBE in 2005 by Queen Elizabeth II for services to British-Bhutan relations, and he is also a holder of Bhutan's Order of Merit (Gold).
