Personal Development Programmes in Major Cities
Our Marketing & PR Manager, Mr. Suman Shrestha and Lecturer, Bethan Ellis have just returned from a very successful education trip around Nepal. The pair travelled for two weeks around the major cities delivering Personal Development programmes and interaction sessions to prospective TBC students. They visited Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalgunj, Chitwan, Biratnagar and Dharan.
The sessions included a discussion of the importance of ‘soft skills’ for successful careers; skills such as teamwork, leadership and effective communication which are sidelined in traditional high school education. They emphasised the significance of these capabilities and demonstrated the integration of ‘soft skill’ development into our college programmes and student life. The style of teaching especially the prominence of student interaction was new for the young individuals and they relished the opportunity to develop their own critical opinions on the subject matter. Students thoroughly enjoyed the programme especially when they tested their team work, building card towers; a challenge for some and for others, a mighty triumph.
The sessions were an overwhelming success with many students interested to pursue higher education at The British College, excited by the opportunities available to them. The trip was also beneficial to our staff allowing them to network with some inspirational teaching and management staff at the visited institutions. From this trip, the college has strengthened many relationships with institutions outside the valley and has encouraged collaborations in both academic and extra-curricular ventures.
