Orientation Programme for ‘Sept. Session 2019’ New Batch of Bachelor’s Students
On 20th September 2019, The British College (TBC) welcomed the new batch of BBA (Hons) Business and Management and BSc (Hons) Computing students, by hosting an interactive orientation programme at The Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu.
The programme started with a warm welcome by Ms Marney Ryan, the EMCEE, followed by motivating speeches from the Principal, Mr. Joey Foster Ellis, the BBA Programme leader, Ms. Kumuda Lamichhane, and the BSc Computing programme leader, Mr. Rohit Pandey. These were followed with inspiring speeches from two of our current students who gave the newcomers a taste of college life. The speeches then ended with closing remarks from the Associate Dean, Mr. Arun Joshi.
The fun then began with a Stand-up Comedy performance from Mr. Aayush Shrestha, which entertained and energised the students in time for the team building activities. These activities included games such as ‘The Marshmallow Challenge’ and ‘Project Runway, which were aimed at improving their strategic, creative, and teamwork skills. The group was arranged into 8 teams, with each playing a series of games as they battled their way to the fashion show finale.
After dancing, laughing, and building towers of marshmallows and spaghetti - the top 2 teams were selected and went through to the final. Here they had to design, sketch, and create three “looks”: A daytime look, evening look, and high fashion couture - imagine something Lady Gaga would wear - using only plastic bags, tape, and straws.
The teams were very innovative with their designs, creating some amazing outfits - with their outrageous Lady Gaga dresses being the highlights. The other students then cheered them on as their models walked their team’s designs down the runway.
Everyone was then treated to a delicious lunch and musical performance from one of our MBA students, Abhishek Ghale before prizes were awarded to the winners.
Thank you to all those that attended! We hope the coming 4 years with TBC is just as fun and rewarding.
