Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the directive of the Government of Nepal, The British College will remain closed until further notice by the government. The College has now moved to online delivery of all classes and services from 22nd March 2020 and will reopen as soon as the situation gets normal. All our staff and teachers are trained to conduct e-learning (virtual) classes, but it will take the support and flexibility of everyone involved to make this uncertain process successful.

We recognise that this is a very difficult time for everyone but we develop this approach to continue classes remotely and undertake alternative assessments in order to minimise the impact on the University Academic Calendar. In this context, we are working closely with our partner universities and follow suit to ensure that no student will be disadvantaged. We would request our parents to join in helping us in this difficult situation. We are also asking any students who need home connectivity to let us know by contacting our Student Services Department (SSD) so that we can help provide it if needed. Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else that we can help with.

In a virtual learning environment, students will need to take responsibility for their work and engagement. While online classes are held in the set “class times”, teachers will regularly be uploading learning activities (including recorded lectures on a daily basis) and assignments and collecting those as evidence of student’s work during this time via University Blackboard/Google Drive. Please communicate and support your son/daughter to work in this environment; in addition, if necessary, you remain in communication with the designated contacts in the college linked to the student's course. We should anticipate, for example, that students or other family members may become ill, which could compromise a student’s ability to complete work for a period of time. Just as you regularly would communicate with college, in the event that your son/daughter is ill and unable to complete work, please call the SSD to report this as an illness. 

During this period, communication with parents and students will be through our already established communication avenues including Email, Phone calls, Website updates (there is more information about this below).

Parents need to be sure they have updated contact information on file with the college.  If you need to update the information, please contact SSD and provide an updated phone and/or email to ensure you don’t miss key information from the college.
