Meeting with Foreign Minister of Nepal

The CEO of The British College and Chairman of Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Mr Rajen Kandel along with Mr Rajendra Khetan, Chairman of Nepal-Britain Chamber of Commerce team held a meeting with the Foreign Minister, Hon Mr Mahendra Pandey, on Monday at Singha Durbar. The agenda of the meeting was to formalise a plan to celebrate the cordial relationship of Nepal and Britain which has successfully reached 200 years.
The team requested the Government of Nepal to initiate a programme to celebrate this 200 years old relationship between the two nations. The team and the government will be preparing jointly to organise this event which will start next year.
Mr Mahendra Pandey mentioned that he will decide on the celebration programme as soon as possible. Furthermore, he added that a committee and a sub-committee will be created to push this matter forward. The Chairman of Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Mr Rajen Kandel said, ‘The committee and sub-committee will surely make this event happen soon.’
Moreover, Mr Rajen Kandel, also focused on the issue of the increasing number of Nepalese in the UK which has made the appointment of The Ambassador the most crucial area of concern. Mr Kandel further mentioned that, ‘We are facing difficulties due to the lack of resources in the Nepalese Embassy London which has made me raise the urgent need of The Ambassador in London and some additional manpower at the Embassy.’
The issue raised by Mr Rajen Kandel was addressed by the Foreign Minister, Hon Mr Mahendra Pandey and assured the team that the appointment of The Ambassador is on process and this issue will be ended in a short time. The best team will be appointed to handle the Diplomatic affairs.
